The way you describe your business, there is no need to do anything right now. Just keep good records and at the end of 2002 provide your tax preparer with the information so he/she can complete Sch C.
If your business picks-up you might think about other forms of ownership (you are a sole proprietor now) and/or if you need to make estimated payments.
Everything I said is true about "Income Tax". If you sell retail "Sales & Use" tax might apply.

Hi,
You can go to a City Hall and register a solo proprietorship, approximately $40. Then you need to fill out application for Federal ID/tax ID.
