  Schumen
Hello! I am Bulgarian and I will be travelling to USA and working there under J1 visa for 1 year. Will it be possible to change it to H1B? I will be very glad if you answer me! All the best, Aneta

The short answer is yes, if you have good credentials under your belt, like publicatons, past achievements etc or if your employer simply likes you. And if you are not sponsored by the US government. If this is the case you will have to return to your home country for 2 years when your J-1 visa expires or later.

Hi Aneta, The answer to your question is yes, I've done it myself. You have to find a company that will sponsor you and you can only work at the field where you received your diploma. The rest is easy and takes about 3-5 month. (I used a laywer, and would recommend you too.... because even though the process is not complicated, it's a little technical, and you'll have so much on the table). E-mail me if you have any questions and good luck. Take care, Gregory
