Hi, Sergey:
You can stay in B1/B2 status for 6 months with an opportunity to renew it for another 6 months (1 year all together). The extension is done by filing the INS form I-539 45 days before the expiration of your original visa. While extension application is pending, you may remain in the US legally in the same B1/B2 status.
Also, you have to be aware that B1/B2 visa does not allow you to work in the US. You may enter the country but you would not have INS permission to work here. You may try to obtain H or L work visa that would allow you to work in the US.
It is always safer to retain an attorney for your immigration matters since the US immigration laws change frequently and are very complex. Fee for the services varies depending on your situation but, in general, immigration services are somewhat costly.
