Hi,

In order to give you a correct answer, I would need to know whether you actually received your GC from the INS, whether you received a first "Congratulations!" letter from the National Visa Center (NVC) or whether you have been informed of the date of your interview.

If you are at the very first stage of the process and you were notified by NVC that you won GC, you still have to get to the next level - a visa number should become available for you. In general, out of 110,000 "winners" only 50,000 to 55,000 have visa numbers available for them.

To verify your status, you may contact NVC at 32 Rochester Ave., Portsmouth, NH 03801-2909. If a visa number is available to you, then NVC will schedule your interview. This process may take several months, but you will be notified of exact date and time of your interview at the appropriate US Consulate. Needless to say, you MUST attend this interview in order to claim your GC.

When filling out paperwork for it, you should include your immediate family members since they would become eligible for permanent residence on the base of your GC.

Again, my recommendation would be to consult an immigration attorney to finesse your way through this seemingly simple process.

Best of luck!
